Wildfinder - Remutaka Rail Trail eBike Explorer

Overview

One day cycle tours of the Remutaka trail

All-inclusive supported cycle day trips are the best way to see the Remutaka Cycle Trail if you’re on a limited timeframe. Focusing on the flagship section of the trail: The Remutaka Rail Trail, this ride is rich in rail history & natural beauty.

We package everything up for you so all you have to do is get to Wellington and be ready to ride! With two handy pick up locations to choose from: either Wellington Station, or for those arriving via cruise ship, we come direct to you at the port.

All trips include: all transport; a tasty packed lunch plus snacks and water; capable and comfortable eBikes with lights, helmets, and any other accessories you might need; and first aid kits plus GPS trackers.

Bike Type - eBike (electric bike), Distance 28km, riding time 3-4 hours, total duration 6 hours

Discover the Remutaka Ranges' rich rail history & natural beauty on an eBike (electric bike). The flagship daytrip of the Remutaka Rail Trail, this is suitable for riders of all levels with a reasonable level of fitness. 28km of easy/moderate riding.

We shuttle you up to our site at Kaitoke in Upper Hutt, where you start your adventure with a very gradual incline through native bush. Pass through tunnels (headlights provided!) and over bridges, while checking out information boards detailing the enormous task of constructing the old fell railway system. Reach the summit - a large grassy plateau perfect for a picnic or cold drink - then enjoy a fun (but easily controllable!) descent to Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, surrounded by some of NZ's most scenic farmland. From Cross Creek you then follow a 2km single lane track to the Car Park. From here, you'll follow a quiet road (on a separate cycle path) as you head north 10km through Wairarapa farmland to the cafes and pubs at Featherston. We'll pick you up at 2:15pm before driving you back to Wellington Station / Port.

Please note: if you are on a cruise ship, we pick you up direct from the Port at 9.15am. We cannot wait for late arrivals - make sure you are there on time otherwise the shuttle will leave without you! We arrive back at Port between 3.45pm - 4pm. Please check that your sailing times allow for these timings, we will not be held responsible if you miss your boat!
