Altitude Tours - Queenstown Wine Sampler Tour

Premium Experience

Overview

We know Pinot. Join our award-winning Queenstown Wine Tour and spend the day discovering the finest cellar doors of the Gibbston wine region. In a relaxed small-group setting, you’ll taste over 18 cool-climate wines, guided by one of Altitude’s wine-certified hosts, with the option to enjoy lunch at a boutique bistro along the way.

Your day begins with pickup from or near your Queenstown accommodation before heading into the heart of Gibbston, a region celebrated for world-class Pinot Noir, alongside exceptional whites and alternative varietals. Travel in comfort through vineyard-lined valleys as your guide shares local insight, stories, and a deep understanding of the wines you’ll be tasting.

Gibbston Valley Winery
Start at one of Central Otago’s founding wineries. Explore New Zealand’s largest wine cave, learn about the region’s winemaking history, and enjoy a guided tasting that sets the tone for the day.

Kinross
A favourite among locals and visitors alike, Kinross showcases multiple boutique producers including Valli, Hawkshead, and Wild Irishman. This is also where you can choose to enjoy lunch at the Kinross Bistro, from wood-fired pizzas to gourmet sharing plates (optional, paid on the day).

Mt Rosa Wines
Nestled beneath the Nevis Bluff, Mt Rosa is a family-owned winery housed in a restored woolshed. Expect expressive, single-estate wines and warm, personal hospitality, with their famous mulled wine a highlight in cooler months.

Ayrburn
Finish the day at Ayrburn, one of Queenstown’s most vibrant wine and hospitality precincts. Set within beautifully restored farm buildings, Ayrburn Wines showcase Central Otago fruit in an atmosphere that’s equal parts refined and welcoming.

This experience is about more than wine, it’s about connection, conversation, and discovering the region through the people who know it best. Whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or simply curious, this is Gibbston at its best.

Small groups. Premium vehicles. Expert wine guides. Unforgettable experiences.

Cellar doors may vary occasionally to ensure the best possible experience.

About The Host

Altitude Tours

Altitude Tours

Altitude Tours began in 2017 with a simple ambition: to create the world’s best wine tour. Built on deep local knowledge and genuine hospitality, their small-group experiences quickly became Queenstown’s top-rated wine tours, earning the title of World’s Best Wine Tour in 2021.

From there, they expanded with purpose, introducing scenic journeys to Glenorchy and Paradise, private charters, and premium sightseeing experiences across the Queenstown Lakes. Their growth into Milford Sound allowed us to bring their signature style of touring to one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural destinations.

Today, Altitude Tours delivers unforgettable small-group day trips led by passionate local guides, supported by premium vehicles and rigorous guide training standards. Every experience reflects their commitment to excellence, sustainability, and creating meaningful connections between people and place.
