Altitude Tours - Best of Queenstown Tour

Overview

Departing daily from central Queenstown at 8:30am (October–Mid May), this thoughtfully curated sightseeing experience brings together the must-see highlights of the region, without feeling rushed or overdone.

Your day begins with a convenient central pick-up and a fully guided journey in a premium vehicle with complimentary Wi-Fi. Start high above Lake Whakatipu at one of Queenstown’s most impressive lookout points, soaking in panoramic views down the lake and across to the Remarkables, a perspective that truly sets the scene. From here, travel to Arthur’s Point to view the historic Edith Cavell Bridge and the powerful Shotover River, rich in gold-mining history and famous for its legendary jet boating.

Next, wander the charming streets of Arrowtown. With around 45 minutes to explore, you’re free to grab a coffee from a local café, browse the heritage shops, stroll the main street, or try your hand at gold panning, a relaxed contrast to the alpine scenery.

The journey continues into the Gibbston region, home to world-class wines, iconic landscapes, and the world’s first commercial bungy jump, with time to watch the action or take the leap yourself (optional, additional cost). You’ll then visit a local cellar door to enjoy a wine tasting and cheeseboard, with non-alcoholic options available, all set among vineyard views.

To finish, swap road for water with a scenic 30-minute boat cruise on Lake Whakatipu, gliding back into the heart of Queenstown where your tour began. Ideal for first-time visitors or those short on time, this experience offers a relaxed, well-balanced introduction to the Queenstown basin.

If weather prevents the boat cruise, you’ll return by road and receive complimentary entry to Time Tripper, an immersive underwater theatre exploring the natural and cultural history of Queenstown.

About The Host

Altitude Tours

Altitude Tours

Altitude Tours began in 2017 with a simple ambition: to create the world’s best wine tour. Built on deep local knowledge and genuine hospitality, their small-group experiences quickly became Queenstown’s top-rated wine tours, earning the title of World’s Best Wine Tour in 2021.

From there, they expanded with purpose, introducing scenic journeys to Glenorchy and Paradise, private charters, and premium sightseeing experiences across the Queenstown Lakes. Their growth into Milford Sound allowed us to bring their signature style of touring to one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural destinations.

Today, Altitude Tours delivers unforgettable small-group day trips led by passionate local guides, supported by premium vehicles and rigorous guide training standards. Every experience reflects their commitment to excellence, sustainability, and creating meaningful connections between people and place.
